Booze

Booze effects

Booze is a cheap way to become as strong and tough as an ox, provided you don't mind being as dumb as an ox.

Ingesting a standard drink of booze takes a full-round action, and takes effect after a minute. The booze intoxicates you for one hour.

You gain the ability bonuses and penalties as noted for each kind of booze. In addition, you must roll on the Booze Penalties table for additional penalties.

Booze benefits are morale bonuses which stack with other booze bonuses. Booze penalties are untyped and stack with everything.

You can drink booze until the penalties reduce one of your abilities to zero (at which point you pass out in a drunken stupor.)

Booze is considered a poison; therefore, Argonians (who are poison-immune) get absolutely nothing out of it.

Booze penalties

Every time you drink a serving of booze, you suffer a random penalty from the table below. (This is in addition to the penalties inherent to each kind of booze.)

Booze penalties stack with all other penalties, including existing booze penalties.

All booze penalties last an hour except ability damage (which follows the usual rules for ability damage) and ‘sickened 24 hours’, which lasts 24 hours.

If any booze penalty is cured somehow, all booze benefits are lost. If any booze penalty is temporarily suppressed, then so are all booze benefits.

Booze counts as a poison for the purposes of spells like Delay Poison and Neutralise Poison.

(Yes, this means that clerics can dispense hangover remedies in return for generous donations to their church.)
