Religion

Created Sunday 11 May 2014

The main religions present in Morrowind are the Tribunal Temple and the Imperial Cult. Daedra worship and ancestor worship are marginalised.

If you are playing a religious character, consult the DM for advice on selecting a religion, deity, and domains.

The Tribunal Temple

The native Dunmer religion, worshipping the triunes Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil.

Worship of the "good daedra" is included, as subordinates to the Tribunal.

The Nine Divines

The imported Imperial religion, worshipping Akatosh, Arkay, Dibella, Zenithar, Mara, Stendarr, Kynareth, Julianos, and Talos.

The Imperial Cult is the missionary arm of the religion.

Daedra

There are sixteen Daedra Lords in total.

Of these, seven are prominent in Morrowind:

  • the three "good daedra" Azura, Boethiah, and Mephala
  • the four "bad daedra" Mehrunes Dagon, Malacath, Sheogorath, and Molag Bal.

Worship of the "good daedra" is tolerated. Worship of the "bad daedra" is banned.

The other Daedra lords (i.e. Nocturnal, Vaermina) play only a peripheral role in Morrowind.

Ashlanders

The native Ashlander people of Morrowind practice ancestor worship, as well as daedra worship.

They do not recognise the Tribunal as gods.
